Facing a growing shortage of skilled workers, local manufacturing businesses are turning to Lakeshore Technical College to close the gap.
"Today the demand for industrial maintenance and electromechanical technicians, machinists, CNC programmers and welders is growing much faster than the supply of skilled workers," Kohler Co. CEO Herb Kohler said. "Our company is fortunate to have a very experienced workforce, but the reality is a large number of our experienced associates will be retiring in 10 to 15 years. The shortage is most acute in skilled trade positions."
Responding to the need for skilled workers by area manufacturers, Lakeshore Technical College unveiled a state-of-the-art training center on Wednesday to address the skilled manufacturing worker shortage in Manitowoc and Sheboygan counties.
Stainless Steel Solutions and Alaark Tooling & Automation are excited to be a part of this initiative to strengthen the workforce for all manufacturers.
